Identity

Crystagen is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Pro (EDP), the member of the Khavinson series assigned to immune tissue. It is distinct from Cortagen, the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, which shares its three residues with an added N-terminal alanine.

Molecular target

No receptor. The mechanism proposed for this series is nuclear: short peptides entering the cell and binding directly at promoter sequences and to histones, altering which genes are transcribed.

Signalling pathway

For Crystagen the published readouts are in lymphocyte and thymocyte preparations, where the reported outcome is changed expression of genes associated with immune-cell differentiation. No signalling cascade is described because no receptor engagement is claimed.

Lymphocyte culture and immunological models from the originating group. As of 2026 no completed randomised controlled human trial exists for any member of this series; the peer-reviewed base is in vitro and rodent work.
